Another Halloween is over and done.
All I can say is...I'm so glad I'm not a teacher today.
I was bound and determined to take all kinds of wonderful pictures before it got dark.
Unfortunately, by the time I uncovered myself from a sea of green paint, the friends had descended and everyone was anxious to get going at the candy gathering.
Oh well.
Here's a few quick shots.
Carlie was so excited to be Elphaba, the not-so-wicked witch.
She listens to the music from Wicked quite often and has loved her since we saw the show in May.
She seemed to like that no one could recognize her.
I won mother of the year award by yelling at her to "just keep your eyes open!" every time she blinked while I was trying to put her makeup on.
And then, "stop crying! dang it now your face is getting wet!! stop it!!!"
It was not pretty.
Apparently I can't handle the Halloween pressure.
This makes me think of a quote attributed to Maya Angelou that I have seen floating around lately.
(I'm glad she doesn't mention dressing-up.)
Yep, I'm bad with tangled Christmas tree lights, too.
Real bad.
(Although I am starting to get excited for the upcoming holidays already, I may have gotten a tad off subject there...)
Here's another green-ish character.
Austin finally decided to be a skeleton.
He had such a hard time making up his mind.
I don't know what the problem was...I mean I gave him FIVE choices.
Each one was a hand-me-down from Carson.
He wasn't thrilled with the options.
Guess he wanted to be an original.
In my defense...one of them, the one I was rooting for, had never even been worn.
He definitely knew he wanted to be scary this year.
Where did this come from???
He is the one that never wanted anything do with the scary stuff and always hid his face in my leg.
Once he figured out this skeleton had such a mean expression, we were in business.
And Carson called himself the dungeon master.
Here they are before we headed out with friends to collect the goods.
Chris stayed behind and handed out tons of candy at our house.
At one point, a fire truck pulled up.
At first we were worried, but then the firefighters got out and started handing out candy.
We thought that was pretty cool.
It was a fun and chilly evening.
And here's a few more costume pictures from this year...
Chris and I dressed up as Red Riding Hood and The Big Bad Wolf for a party.
And we had fun at our church trunk or treat.
We were joined by the cutest little ducky ever.
Although, she was very frightened by the green scary girl.

All great costumes--but I have to say that yours and Chris's gets 1st place! I love it!
Hm...we would have one lo-o-o-ng book if we compiled "great mothering moments" between the two of us!
Love the photos, especially that green witch! Don't worry about getting a little stressed, I think I swore a couple of times while making Rachel's costume.
Ball gown.
