just witching you a happy halloween!

Our awesome street party! I didn't get many pictures. It was too dark and I was too busy stringing donuts. Every other year, I get the game all ready and let Chris run it while I socialize :) But this year, we were so busy all day that I wasn't ready ahead of time. It was great hanging out with our cool neighbors. The kids had fun playing games and singing karaoke. Then they invited friends to the backyard to play ghosts in the graveyard, whatever that is.

Love the fall treats!  We made a sticky mess, as always, making caramel apples.  But they turned out so delicious!  The sprinkles and mini chocolate chips were just right.  And the yummy apples were from mom and dad's tree. The truffles we took to a party.  And the pumpkin chocolate chip muffins and hot cider were perfect for our pumpkin carving night.

Fun times carving pumpkins this year! We have never been cool enough to use a kit, just our kitchen knives. This year we got a kit from whatever cool people "booed" us and we spent the whole time fighting over the rad saw. Who knew? We are officially converted. AND...we roasted our pumpkin seeds for the first time ever. I remember my dad doing this. But we have never tried it. They turned out yummy. The best part of the evening was the 80's pop station I had blasting on pandora. The kids asked if I would play something they knew. No way. "Get to know this," I said. "Embrace it." And there was definitely dancing. Once when Carson and I were shaking it, Carlie looked at us and said, "REALLY?" So I turned to her, and in my best 80's pop star voice, I said, "We are all going to be fools in life, we might as well be dancing fools." Right?! (She used my awesome cliche phrase against me later when she saw me giving her a funny look as she slaughtered one of the songs. In her very best mocking voice she said, "MOM, we are all going to be fools, we might as well be singing fools." I'll tell you what, I don't deserve the treatment I get around here.)

They hate the gooey guts. But they managed to finish them up. Looks pretty good. Have a spooky fun day!
