girl time

Our boys were super happy to get their camping trip in this weekend.
We were even blessed with good weather...unheard of.

Of course my girlie and I had to make the most of our boy-less time together.

The sunshine demanded time at the pool with friends.
And a book.

We shopped (a lot).
Ate out.
Watched a movie at home in our pjs. (Ramona & Beezus...when that Ramona decides to run away and discovers the bowling ball in her suitcase...just about the best thing ever.)
Played Battleship and Rummikub.
And talked. (Definitely my favorite part.)

My daughter is growing up so fast!
Two more days left of elementary school.
She is finally getting excited.

She had such a great year at school.
Carlie is a girl that pushes herself always.
She always has perfect grades and yet she will still worry about assignments and projects.
It seems like strange parenting sometimes, but Chris and I find ourselves regularly downplaying the importance of these different assignments.
Always trying to encourage her to do her best and not worry about doing it perfectly.
At the school assembly last week, she earned the Presidential Academic Award and also the Presidential Fitness Award.
She always pushes herself to achieve.
Even if it doesn't come easy, (the Fitness Award...she is not the fastest OR the most flexible), she will try, try, try.

She is a super fun girl to have around.
And she has such a desire to do good.

And boss me around.

I'm grateful for my Carlie.
