another year in the books

Happy Anniversary to my hubby!

My friend.

A few days ago, we were mentioning something about our anniversary coming up this week.
Austin said, "Again??? You just keeping having those."
We tried to explain how that is kinda the idea.

Later he told me that he already knew that this was our 27th anniversary.
I told him that would mean that we had wed in elementary school.
He thought that was disgusting.

But it did prompt a conversation with my children on their thoughts about our marriage.
I wrote down a couple of their comments.

Austin: "I just think about all the love and care."
And, "I think you are so happy...and it's probably because you've got us."

Carson: "Your marriage is an awesome thing."
And, "You guys are good at raising this family."

Carlie: "I think your marriage is silly, funny, happy, organized (?), and loving."
And, "P.S. Thanks for getting married."

It sounds more corny when I write it, but the conversations meant something to me and I wanted to remember.

We don't ever pretend to have a perfect marriage, and our kids know that as well as anyone.
But they see that we will always put in the work and love required to keep it strong.
And even though our marriage may not be perfect, I have found the perfect man for me.

Love to you, babe.

I remember the joy I felt on your wedding day...so confident of the "rightness" of your union. And these 15(!!) years later, I'm even more sure that you two belong together! w/xos & congrats!
